Estates and Farm Holdings

We carry out a very old fashioned specialist craft. This is ideal for projects with lots of buildings like estates that usually need painting every year or so. We use a very old technique in which we take sash and case windows,strip them of their original paint. And use linseed oil paint. Linseed oil paint lasts a lifetime. The oils soak into the wood and let it breathe. Modern oil based paints sit on the surface of the wood and smother it not allowing it to flex or let moisture escape from the wood hence why these paints flake and blister. Linseed oil does neither of those. It can easily last 15 years without ever touching it. The longer the oil is on the wood the flatter it gets. Some clients like this. Others who like the original look simply have to put a coat of linseed oil on, not paint, which takes minutes and it is back looking new again. We love doing this work,it may be our favourite projects to work on. The difference is astounding and it saves the client of these particular estates, holdings a lot of money.
